Winning

Winning can be just as complicated as defeat in volleyball, but of course, it doesn’t have to be. Winning can be easy and humble and respectful.

When it comes to winning, many things can happen. Of course, winning is good and every team wants to win but if a team goes on a winning streak it is the coaches job and the teammates job to keep everyone’s head’s out of the clouds. You can’t become too confident because then you just become cocky. There is a fine line between the two. But, this shouldn’t stop you from doing your very best in every game and try to win. You just have to be aware of how you are acting at every point AFTER the win to avoid problems. You see, if you become too cocky your growth gets stunted, because then you think you have nothing else to work on, to improve on. THIS is wrong. There will always be someone better than you, even if your High School team is undefeated, if your college team just won Nationals, or even if you just won a gold medal at the Olympics. There will always be a better player, a stronger server, a more ferocious blocker, a more precise setter. You can not let winning stunt your growth or else one day, you will lose and then you will fall behind. If you lose every game, push harder. If you win every game, push harder. Never stop.

Have a good day,

W.P.
